Vattenfall and CIP select TKF for Zeevonk inter-array cables

Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have awarded TKF the inter-array cable contract for phase one of the Zeevonk offshore wind project.
The contract covers the supply of approximately 162 km of 66 kV inter-array cables for the Dutch offshore wind development.
TKF will be responsible for the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply and project management of the cables and associated accessories.
The cables will be produced at TKF’s facility in Eemshaven in the Netherlands.
The agreement includes the use of lower-carbon and recycled materials, including low-emission aluminium, recycled steel and recycled copper, alongside a bitumen-free cable design.
Zeevonk said the sustainability measures supported the project’s position during the tender process by helping meet circularity and environmental criteria.
The Zeevonk project will be developed offshore the Dutch North Sea coast and will be developed in two phases. Phase one is expected to deliver 1 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2029, while phase two, scheduled for 2032, will add a further 1 GW of offshore wind alongside 500 MW of system integration capacity, including green hydrogen production infrastructure.
