Uniper signs first offshore wind PPA with Skyborn's Gennaker project
Uniper has signed its first offshore wind power purchase agreement, securing
100MW from Skyborn Renewables' Gennaker
offshore wind project
in the German Baltic Sea.
The long-term agreement will begin once the 976.5MW project reaches commercial
operation, running for an initial 10 years, with an option to extend.
The deal marks another commercial milestone for Gennaker as the project
advances towards construction. It also expands Skyborn's offtake portfolio,
following the announcement of a separate long-term PPA with Amazon earlier
this month.
Once operational, Gennaker is expected to become the largest offshore wind
farm in the German Baltic Sea, generating enough renewable electricity
to power around one million households annually.
For Uniper, the agreement represents its first offshore wind PPA and supports
the company's strategy to diversify its power portfolio with additional
renewable generation.
