Ulstein delivers Nexans Electra cable lay vessel for offshore wind sector

Ulstein Verft has delivered the DP3 cable lay vessel Nexans Electra to
Nexans, expanding the company’s offshore subsea cable installation capacity
for offshore wind and interconnector projects.
The vessel is a sister ship to Nexans Aurora, delivered in 2021, and includes
increased cable carrying capacity and updated installation systems designed
for complex subsea operations.
According to Ulstein, Nexans Electra features a 10,000-tonne split turntable
on deck, an additional 3,500-tonne under-deck turntable and a 450-tonne
fibre-optic tank.
The vessel has been designed for the transport, laying, protection, repair
and jointing of subsea power cables and will support offshore renewable
energy and grid infrastructure projects worldwide.
Nexans said the vessel forms part of its long-term investment strategy
to meet growing demand for subsea transmission infrastructure linked to
electrification and offshore wind development.
Ulstein Verft completed the turnkey delivery of the vessel at its yard
in Ulsteinvik, Norway.
