The UK Government has published an indicative timeline for Allocation Round 8 (AR8) of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, outlining the expected sequence of key milestones for the country’s next renewable energy auction round.

The timeline indicates that exemption requests are expected to close on 2 June 2026, ahead of the anticipated opening of the application window on 20 July 2026.

The indicative schedule also points to a late-2026 outcome process, with applications expected to move through the qualification, assessment, and allocation stages later this year.

AR8 is expected to be closely watched by the offshore wind sector following renewed momentum in UK renewable energy procurement and growing government emphasis on accelerating domestic clean power deployment.

The publication of a clearer AR8 timetable is expected to assist developers, supply chain companies and investors in planning project submissions, procurement activity and delivery schedules.

The published timeline notes that the dates remain indicative and may still be subject to change.
