Thistle Wind Partners has submitted an offshore consent application for
the Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm to the Scottish Government.
The application has been lodged with the Marine Directorate and covers
the proposed fixed-bottom project off the Aberdeenshire coast in north-east
Scotland.
Bowdun
has a planned capacity of up to 1 GW and is expected to generate enough
electricity to supply the equivalent of more than 1.2 million homes once
operational.
Both the offshore and onshore elements of the project are now under determination.
The onshore infrastructure application was submitted to Aberdeenshire Council
in November 2025.
Thistle Wind Partners said the project is expected to support more than
700 jobs in Scotland during construction, with around 60 long-term roles
linked to future operations and maintenance.
