The PlemCat project site has secured an Environmental Impact Assessment
The NextFloat project’s PlemCat installation site in Spain has secured
an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for pilot deployment. The approval
confirms the site meets national environmental regulations following extensive
planning.
The EIA was granted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the
Demographic Challenge. It confirms that ecological protection requirements
have been addressed for the test site.
The project is intended to support the development of floating offshore
wind infrastructure. The next phase will take place within the LEBA 1 commercial
area in the Spanish Mediterranean Sea.
Planned deployment includes X1 Wind’s X100 8.5 MW floating platform at
the site. The pilot installation is expected to contribute to advancing
floating offshore wind technologies in Spain.
