SK Oceanplant has just announced the first sail-away of its Fengmiao 1 project, meaning the structure has been fully assembled and shipped to its permanent location.

Delivery of the jacket foundations has now begun, with each jacket standing 97 metres tall and weighing 2,700 tonnes.

The Fengmiao project was developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The project aims to generate 495 MW of renewable energy, with each of the 33 Vestas turbines having an individual capacity of 15 MW.

Located 35 km off the coast of Taichung, Taiwan, the wind farm aims to reduce Taiwan’s dependence on imported energy sources while strengthening the local economy.

The next stage of the project is the safe delivery of the remaining foundations, with the wind farm expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
