The Philippines Department of Energy has suspended activities under the
fifth Green Energy Auction round, known as GEA-5, until further notice,
according to an official statement issued on 04 July.
The Department of Energy said it has informed all qualified suppliers and
renewable energy stakeholders of the decision and confirmed the pause applies
across the whole planned auction process.
GEA-5 was expected to allocate more than 3,300 MW of offshore wind capacity
and was designed as the country’s first dedicated auction round for large-scale
offshore wind projects.
The suspension allows the department to review project implementation,
including port readiness, permitting requirements, environmental and port-related
costs, and risks of further supply chain disruption linked to recent political
developments.
The department said it will refine GEA-5 requirements and timelines before
contacting stakeholders about the new arrangements.
