Siemens Gamesa has begun shipping blades for Denmark’s 1 GW Thor offshore
wind farm from its manufacturing facility in Le Havre, France, marking
another milestone for one of Europe’s largest offshore wind projects.
The first 115-metre blades produced at the Le Havre plant are now en route
to the project site, with the facility expected to manufacture a total
of 63 blades for the development.
Thor offshore wind farm will utilise 72 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 offshore
wind turbines and is set to become Denmark’s largest offshore wind project
once fully operational.
The deliveries also mark the first blades manufactured following the expansion
of Siemens Gamesa’s Le Havre facility, which serves as a key offshore
wind manufacturing hub for the European market.
Developed by RWE in the Danish North Sea, the Thor offshore wind farm will
have a total installed capacity of more than 1 GW.
