Siemens Energy has agreed to acquire the monitoring business of Northern Ireland-based Camlin Group, expanding its capabilities in grid monitoring, asset management and network analytics.

The acquisition will bring Camlin's real-time monitoring technologies into Siemens Energy's Grid Technologies division. The systems are used by utilities to improve visibility across electricity networks, monitor critical assets and support more efficient grid operation.

The company said the move would strengthen its grid technology offering as transmission networks are expanded to accommodate growing volumes of renewable energy generation.

The announcement comes as grid infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important factor in the energy transition, with transmission networks across Europe undergoing significant upgrades to accommodate rising volumes of offshore wind and other renewable generation.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions.
