RWE opens offshore wind control centre in Germany
RWE has officially opened a new offshore wind control centre in Jemgum,
Germany, which will monitor and operate the company's offshore wind farms
across Germany and Europe 24/7.
The new facility, developed by Real Immobilien, will initially oversee
five offshore wind farms and has been designed to support RWE's future
offshore wind expansion.
Around 50 RWE employees will be based at the site, with the company planning
to recruit additional operational staff from within the region.
The 1,120-square metre building includes a dedicated control room, office
space and meeting facilities. Derk Niklas Janssen, RWE Site Manager said:
“We are delighted to have found our new home port here in Jemgum. This
new facility provides a modern and ideal work environment for our employees.”
The building has been designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating
recycled construction materials, rooftop solar panels and water-saving
measures, ensuring the highest standards.
RWE said the investment reflects the growing importance of onshore operational
infrastructure as Europe's offshore wind developments continue to grow.
