Representations for the proposed Morgan and Morecambe projects have been submitted

Fylde Council has submitted further representations to the Secretary of State over the proposed Morganand Morecambe Offshore Wind Farms Transmission Assets Development Consent Order, Claiming key concerns remain unresolved.

The council said the applicants had "failed to meaningfully engage with the Council" throughout the process and claimed the withdrawal of Morgan Offshore Wind Ltd. had created significant delivery and enforcement risks.

While some progress had been made, there is uncertainty over how the scheme would be delivered.

The submission also includes a joint economic review by Fylde, Wyre and Lancashire councils, which states the proposed onshore transmission route could be up to £520 million more expensive than an alternative northern route.

The new review claims the alternative could create 1,100 additional jobs and generate between £990 million and £1.7 billion in gross value added, with "no insurmountable environmental or ecological challenges."

A decision is expected from the Secretary of State on 14 September.

Council leader Karen Buckley said communities affected by the scheme "deserve to know that every option has been properly considered".
