Prysmian is set to move into the delivery phase of its Cook Strait HVDC
Link Upgrade after receiving the Notice to Proceed (NTP) for the project.
The Cook Strait project is an asset for Prysmian, helping to improve the
efficiency and reliability of energy transfers between New Zealand's North
and South islands.
Prysmian acknowledged the difficulty of the task, given the unpredictable
conditions of the Cook Strait, but have confirmed that they will use their
strongest assets and expertise to ensure smooth operations and successful
project delivery.
Raul Gil, Transmission EVP of Prysmian said: “The Notice to Proceed represents
a key milestone for the Cook Strait project, enabling Prysmian to move
into the full delivery phase of this strategically important interconnection.
The project is expected to strengthen New Zealand's electricity transmission
system while reinforcing Prysmian's position as a leading provider of energy
and digital connectivity solutions.
