Prysmian has been awarded a framework agreement worth around €910 million by Greek transmission system operator IPTO for a series of power interconnection projects linking islands in the Dodecanese and North Aegean.

Under the agreement, Prysmian will design, manufacture and install more than 900 kilometres of submarine and land cables across seven projects. The works form part of Greece's ongoing efforts to strengthen grid infrastructure and improve electricity supply to island communities.

The projects are expected to be completed by 2033 and will involve cable installations in water depths of up to 1,150 metres, setting a new record for static three-core HVAC submarine cables.

Prysmian said the interconnections will improve grid reliability and efficiency while supporting the integration of renewable energy and reducing reliance on local generation.

The company has previously worked with IPTO on several major Greek interconnection projects, including links to the Cyclades islands and the Crete-Attica and
Crete-Peloponnese connections.
