LS Cable & System and LS Marine Solutions have been selected as preferred bidders for submarine cable supply and installation at the 1GW Haesong offshore wind project in South Korea.

The project will be developed off Heuksando in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, and will comprise two 504MW offshore wind farms.

LS Marine Solutions was selected as preferred bidder for cable installation earlier this month, while LS Cable & System confirmed on 17 June that it had secured preferred bidder status for cable supply.

The companies said they will jointly deliver the project’s submarine cable scope, including design, manufacturing and installation.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is leading investment and project management for the development, while Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) is overseeing project development activities.

According to LS Cable & System, the award builds on previous collaboration with CIP and COP on offshore wind projects in Taiwan and South Korea.

Jonathan Spink, chief executive of COP Korea, said the agreement reflects continued cooperation with Korean suppliers as part of efforts to support local offshore wind supply chains.
