Buchan
Offshore Wind
has appointed Kent as Owner's Engineer for its nearly 1 GW floating offshore
wind project off the north-east coast of Scotland.
Supported by their Scotland based team, Kent will provide technical and
delivery expertise throughout the project's next phase. Specialist support
will also be provided by Vekta Group and New Power Partners, strengthening
the project.
Located about 75 kilometres north-east of Fraserburgh, the project is expected
to generate enough electricity to power over one million homes. The project
aims to support Scotland's floating offshore wind industry, including the
manufacturing of the country's first concrete floating foundations.
This progress follows recent approval from Aberdeenshire Council regarding
the project's onshore electrical infrastructure, while the Scottish Governments
decision on offshore consent is expected by the end of 2026.
Technical and Engineering Director Brian Horne said, “Kent brings strong
offshore wind experience, deep offshore engineering heritage, and a highly
capable integrated team, including Vekta Group and NPP.”
