Inch Cape has taken delivery of two new-build crew transfer vessels from
UK marine contractor Mainprize Offshore Ltd.
The twin vessels, MO12 and MO14, will operate out of the Port of Montrose,
transporting engineers and technicians to the offshore wind farm site during
construction before continuing into the operations and maintenance phase
under a five-year charter.
Each 26-metre crew transfer vessel can carry up to 24 passengers and will
be operated by locally based crews, with a master, engineer and deckhand
assigned to each vessel.
Designed by UK naval architects, the vessels have a bollard push of 21
tonnes, allowing safe personnel transfer in significant wave heights of
up to two metres. This capability is expected to increase vessel availability
for the project by around 26 days per year.
The vessels feature multi-fuel capability and an optimised catamaran hull
design to improve operational performance and reduce fuel consumption,
resulting in lower emissions compared with conventional vessels. They were
designed by Walker Marine Design and built by Strategic Marine Group in
Singapore.
