Ground investigations have been completed for the Mona offshore wind project

Jones Bros Civil Engineering has completed ground investigation surveys for the proposed
Mona Offshore Wind Project, marking a key milestone in the project's contractor involvement (ECI) phase.

The surveys covered the proposed onshore cable corridor for the 1.5GW offshore wind farm, which is planned in the eastern Irish Sea. The information gathered will then support engineering designs ahead of the next development stage.

Jones Bros is delivering the ECI works for the project's onshore infrastructure, including environmental monitoring and stakeholder engagement. Detailed design work is currently underway following completion of the investigation programme.

Developed by JERA Nex bp, Mona Offshore Wind Project aims to install up to 96 wind turbines and generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of 1.5 million UK homes.

Richard Haydock, Mona project director, said completion of the surveys represented "an important step" in progressing the project towards construction.
