Germany proposes further updates to offshore wind development plan
Germany's Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) have launched
a second amendment procedure for the 2025 Offshore Site Development Plan
(FEP), proposing changes to offshore wind areas, grid connection infrastructure
and project timelines in the North Sea.
The draft amendments include revised boundaries for several offshore wind
sites, adjustments to auction and commissioning schedules for selected
development areas. In addition to changes in the routing of an offshore
grid connection, and updates to associated transmission infrastructure.
These amendments reflect changes since the plan was last updated in January
2026 and are intended to keep Germany's offshore wind development programme
on track with project and grid requirements.
The agency has opened a public consultation on the proposed changes, with
the public invited to submit comments until 20 July 2026.
The Offshore Site Development Plan sets out the timetable and framework
for future offshore wind auctions, grid connections and project development
in Germany's Exclusive Economic Zone.
