Equinor and Polenergia have installed the first offshore wind foundations at the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 projects in the Polish Baltic Sea.

The first dozen monopile and transition piece sets have now been installed, marking the start of the offshore installation campaign for the two projects. In total, 100 foundation sets will be installed during the offshore construction phase.

The work is being carried out by Heerema Marine Contractors’ heavy-lift vessel
Thialf. The vessel is installing monopiles measuring around 50 to 70 metres long, followed by 17-metre transition pieces.

Offshore substation jackets are also due to be installed later this year, while turbine installation is scheduled for 2027.

Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 will have a combined capacity of 1.44 GW and are expected to deliver first power in 2027, with full operational capacity in 2028. The projects are being developed jointly by Equinor and Polenergia.
