EDF has signed an agreement that could see investment firm KKR acquire its EDF power solutions business in the
United States and Canada.

The transaction covers EDF's renewable energy operations across North America, including the development, construction and operation of renewable energy projects, battery storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and microgrids.

The company currently operates a portfolio of renewable energy assets with a combined net capacity of 5.6GW across the two countries.

KKR has made a commitment to acquire the business following a competitive sale process, while EDF power solutions have the option to complete the transaction.

However, completion of the deal remains subject to consultation with employee representatives and approval by the relevant governance authorities.

The proposed sale reflects continued investor interest in the renewable energy sector, with operating wind, solar and storage assets attracting strong demand from investors.
