EDF Renewables Brasil has received an environmental authorisation from Brazil’s environmental regulator IBAMA for biological monitoring and survey work linked to its proposed Complexo Offshore do Sul I offshore wind project.

The authorisation covers the capture, collection and transport of biological material as part of the federal environmental licensing process for the project offshore Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil.

The permit supports a range of environmental assessment activities including marine mammal, bird, fish and benthic monitoring, alongside acoustic surveys and seabed sampling.

The studies will be carried out by Tetra Tech Engenharia e Consultoria and include offshore transects, drone surveys and seasonal monitoring campaigns across multiple locations.

The authorisation is valid until May 2028 and forms part of the wider environmental impact assessment process for the offshore wind development.
