A large batch
of monopiles has been completed for the 1.4GW East Anglia Three offshore
wind farm in the UK.
Navantia Seanergies
and Windar Renovables announced that 45 of the 1,800-ton foundations are
now ready for delivery after rolling off the production line at the Navantia
shipyard in Fene, Spain.
They are intended
for East Anglia Three, the third phase of the East Anglia complex off the
coast of Norfolk and Suffolk, which will be able to provide power to 1.3
millions homes once complete.
Javier Herrador,
Navantia's director, said: "We are delighted to see this collaboration
with Iberdrola come to fruition, allowing us to contribute to the generation
of clean energy while supporting industrialization and creating employment
and wealth in a strategic sector for Europe."
Orlando Alonso,
chairman of Windar Renovables, added: "The extraordinary work carried
out by all individuals and companies involved in this order to meet the
needs of a top-tier client like Iberdrola, which is positioning Spain at
the global forefront of renewable energies."
Navantia Seanergies
has earlier built a substation for East Anglia One and, in collaboration
with Windar, supplied 42 jacket-type foundations.
