DEME has added a second next-generation offshore wind installation vessel to its fleet, with Norse Energi scheduled to begin work in the Baltic Sea and North Sea later this year.

The jack-up installation vessel will first work on Iberdrola’s
Windanker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea from June 2026 before moving to Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 project in the UK in the third quarter.

Norse Energi joins sister vessel Norse Wind in DEME’s offshore transport and installation fleet. The vessels are designed to transport and install next-generation offshore wind turbines and XXL monopiles in water depths of up to 70 metres.

Both vessels are equipped with 3,200-tonne cranes and hybrid power systems incorporating 4.2 MWh battery storage intended to reduce fuel consumption and emissions during installation operations.

The additions expand installation capacity for large-scale offshore wind projects as turbine sizes and foundation weights continue to increase across the sector.
