The Crown Estate has outlined plans to invest up to £5 billion over the next decade, including up to £400 million to strengthen the UK's offshore wind supply chain.

Announcing its annual results, The Crown Estate reported operating profit of £1.2 billion, down from £1.4 billion (2024/5) as income from Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 option fees is reduced as projects progressed into construction.

The organisation also reported that its current and potential offshore wind pipeline has increased from 50GW to 56GW over the past year. Additionally, two Round 4 offshore wind projects entered construction during the period, while rights were awarded for three floating wind projects in the Celtic Sea under Round 5.

Revenue from existing offshore wind farms increased 20% to £117 million, driven by favourable wind conditions and new generating capacity coming online.

Dan Labbad, Chief Executive of The Crown Estate, said: “These results demonstrate both the strength of our underlying business and the importance of taking a long-term approach to managing national assets.”

Alongside future leasing rounds, The Crown Estate said it has committed £18 million through its Supply Chain Accelerator since 2024 and plans to invest up to £400 million to expand UK offshore wind supply chain capacity over the coming years.
