Crown Estate targets next 20-30 GW wave of UK offshore wind

The Crown Estate has outlined plans to bring a further 20-30 GW of offshore wind capacity to market in the UK by the end of the decade.
The seabed manager said the programme would support future offshore wind leasing rounds and accelerate deployment as the UK expands renewable generation and grid infrastructure in the North Sea.
The Crown Estate is preparing Offshore Wind Leasing Round 6, which is expected to launch in 2027 and could support at least 6 GW of new fixed-bottom offshore wind capacity, primarily off north-east England.
The organisation said it is also assessing changes to leasing and seabed management processes intended to reduce project risk and improve delivery timelines for developers.
