A seaside site in South Korea is being eyed for a new marshalling port
for offshore wind initiatives being developed in the Asia-Pacific region.
Cyan Renewables, LX International, a global trading firm, and Blue Water
Shipping have agreed on a memorandum of understanding aimed at developing
the Dangjin location with 480 metres of new quayside and a deepwater berth
for next-generation installation vessels.
Jason Goh, regional senior vice president at Blue Water Shipping, remarked
that South Korea could serve as a "strategic entry point" for
offshore wind logistics initiatives across Asia.
Keng Lin Lee, Cyan chief executive, said: "Cyan Renewables is proud
to be a member of this consortium with LX and Blue Water Shipping.
"Together with LX’s infrastructure strength and Blue Water Shipping’s
global logistics expertise, we will create an integrated ecosystem that
reduces bottlenecks, strengthens supply chains and accelerates offshore
wind deployment in Korea."
The upcoming facility will be based on Blue Water’s Esbjerg marshalling
port model, with the company facilitating the deployment of personnel in
South Korea who possess expertise in managing offshore wind components.
