Chile unveils offshore wind roadmap to drive energy transition

Chile has presented a new offshore wind roadmap as it aims to unlock offshore
wind potential and boost the development of a domestic offshore wind industry.
The roadmap was highlighted during an event co-hosted by the Embassy of
Chile in the United Kingdom and The Carbon Trust as part of London Climate
Action Week.
According to the Chilean government, the roadmap provides a framework for
offshore wind development while supporting wider decarbonisation objectives,
energy security and industrial growth. In addition, it aims to encourage
investment in infrastructure, strengthen supply chains and create skilled
jobs.
The event brought together representatives from government, industry and
the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) to discuss the steps needed to
move the sector from planning to deployment.
Chile joined GOWA in 2025 and has identified offshore wind as a key component
of its long-term energy transition strategy.
