Celtico and CIERCO Form Partnership to Boost Welsh Supply Chain

Llŷr 2 Wind Farm

Celtico and CIERCO have entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen Welsh participation in the floating offshore wind supply chain.

The organisations said they will work together to improve collaboration among developers, government, ports, industry, and the wider supply chain, with the aim of increasing opportunities for Welsh engineering and manufacturing businesses in the emerging Celtic Sea offshore wind sector.

The partnership comes as CIERCO’s
Llŷr Wind Farms project continues through the consenting process. The project recently secured a Marine Licence from Natural Resources Wales and completed its Environmental Impact Assessment process. It is now awaiting Section 36 Consent from the Welsh Government under the Electricity Act 1989.

According to the partners, securing consent would enable the project to participate in the forthcoming Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 8. The demonstration-scale project is intended to support the development of skills, expertise and supply chain capability for future offshore wind developments in the Celtic Sea.

The companies said the collaboration forms part of a wider effort to strengthen local supply chain engagement, support investment in skills and facilities, and maximise the economic benefits generated by renewable energy projects in Wales.
