California have sent a notice of intent to file a second lawsuit against the Trump Administration

California Attorney General Rob Bonta and California Energy Commission (CEC) Chair David Hochschild have issued a notice of intent to file a second lawsuit against the Trump administration in relation to offshore wind lease buyouts.

The proposed lawsuit concerns an agreement between the U.S. Department of the Interior and Invenergy, under which Invenergy received $765 million to terminate four offshore wind leases, including the Morro Bay Wind Energy Area.

“Offshore wind isn’t just about domestic, clean energy — it’s about creating the good-paying jobs and industries of the future,” said California Energy Commission Chair David Hochschild.

California officials argue that the agreement has damaged the state's offshore wind development potential. The state aims to develop 25 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2045, enough to power approximately 25 million homes.
