Cadeler announced on 13 July the signing of an EIFO-backed senior secured green term loan facility worth €247 million to support the construction of its third A-Class offshore wind installation vessel, Wind Apex.

The offshore vessel is expected to be delivered in Q2 2027. Wind Apex has been designed to support some of the largest foundation dimensions in the industry and will have a payload capacity of more than 17,000 tonnes.

The new facility is supported by the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) and has been classified as green financing under Cadeler’s Green Finance Framework, recognising the project as a sustainable contribution that supports Denmark’s green transition.

In addition, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) has assumed the roles of coordinator, mandated lead arranger, facility agent, security agent and EIFO agent.

Peter Boeskov, COO at EIFO Large Corporates, said: “Strengthening Danish companies and supply chains in the energy transition is a strategic priority for EIFO. Cadeler exemplifies how quickly Danish expertise can scale globally, now operating the world’s largest installation fleet for offshore wind.”

Cadeler has further stated that the financing reflects its long-term relationships with international banking partners and their continued confidence in the company’s ability to provide offshore wind installation capacity to customers worldwide.
