Boskalis Press Release

Boskalis has announced plans to invest in a new high-capacity Cable Lay
Vessel (CLV) targeting growing demand from the offshore wind and interconnector
sectors.
The vessel, which is expected to enter service in 2029, will be designed
to support long-distance high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable installation
projects linked to grid expansion and offshore renewable energy development.
According to the company, the CLV will feature two 12,000-ton cable carousels,
including a concentric carousel, enabling the installation of longer continuous
cable sections while reducing the need for offshore joints.
Boskalis said increasing electrification, energy security requirements
and offshore wind transmission demand are driving the need for expanded
subsea cable installation capacity.
The company has participated in more than 140 subsea cable-related projects
over the past 15 years and currently operates three cable lay vessels alongside
trenching support assets and seabed intervention equipment.
The investment reflects continued growth across the offshore transmission
market as developers and grid operators expand interconnector and offshore
wind infrastructure worldwide.
