Baltyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms reach foundation installation halfway point
Equinor and Polenergia have reached the halfway mark of foundation installation
for the Baltyk
2
and 3 offshore wind farms in the Polish Baltic Sea.
Over 50 monopiles and transition pieces have now been installed across
the two projects, with the installation of the offshore substation foundations
scheduled to begin later this summer.
Together, the wind farms will feature 100 turbines rated at 14.4MW each,
delivering a combined capacity of up to 1. 44GW. Once complete, its estimated
they could supply energy to around two million Polish households.
The campaign is being carried out by the heavy-lift vessel Thialf, supported
by a fleet of more than a dozen vessels.
The next phase of construction will see jacket foundations installed for
the offshore substations.
Baltyk 2 and 3 are being jointly developed by Equinor and Polenergia and
are scheduled to begin generating electricity in 2027, with full commercial
operation expected in 2028.
