Arup supports certification for Japan offshore wind project

Arup has supported the certification of an offshore wind project off the
coast of Oga City, Katagami City and Akita City, Japan.
Working as Owner's Engineer for Oga
Katagami Akita Offshore
Green Energy LLC, Arup provided important technical verification and coordination
of project stakeholders throughout the certification process.
The project received
conformity certification from Bureau Veritas Japan on June 30, who confirmed
the design meets standard technical and regulatory requirements. The milestone
moves the project closer to construction approval under Japan's Electricity
Business Act.
"By combining our global expertise with a deep understanding of Japan's
unique seismic conditions, we helped the project team navigate complex
technical and regulatory requirements as the country accelerates its energy
transition," said Ryota Kidokoro, Japan group leader.
This certification marks major development for Japan’s offshore wind sectors
becoming the first bottom-fixed offshore wind project in Japan's general
sea areas to receive certification through the public auction process.
