Great Yarmouth headquartered 3sun Group has secured a contract with Vattenfall to service wind turbine across Europe. The contract represents the firm's largest ever contract award and is expected to create up to 30 new jobs.

The contract award follows news last month 3sun Group announced that it had been acquired by Australian engineering firm Worley Limited (formerly WorleyParsons). The acquisition is valued in the region of for £20 million ($A37.6 million).

Graham Hacon, 3sun Group founder and now Vice President of Offshore Wind (Global) for Worley, said: “This is the biggest framework agreement in our 12-year history and will create 20 to 30 new jobs, which will support the growth of our international multi-skilled workforce.”

Danielle Lane, Vattenfall’s UK Country Manager, said: “Vattenfall is delighted to sign up 3sun Group, not just because it’s a great Norfolk business benefiting from our strong presence in the region, but also because the deal offers a great export opportunity for a leading UK business.

“The offshore wind sector deal between industry and Government commits to both growing the UK sector work force and exporting the UK’s expertise. We achieve both with this 3sun Group deal."

The news comes ahead of next week’s Offshore Wind Week and its events celebrating the achievements of offshore wind in the east of England and the UK. This includes the East of England Energy Group's (EEEGR) fifth annual
East Anglia Offshore Wind Week event. Sponsored by major industry players, including Vattenfall, the event will provide participants the opportunity to network with key individuals, hear project updates on future plans from developers and identify new opportunities in the offshore wind sector.

In partnership with EEEGR’s Offshore Wind Week Celebrations, Vattenfall will also be hosting a supply chain event on the 20th November at new state of the art Energy Skills Centre at the East Coast College Lowestoft campus.
