Ørsted and PGE have begun installing offshore foundations for the 1.5 GW
Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland.
The first monopiles have been installed in the Polish Baltic Sea as full-scale
offshore construction begins on the project.
Van Oord is carrying out the foundation installation campaign, which will
include 111 monopiles: 107 for wind turbines and four for offshore substations.
The installation
campaign is scheduled to continue until the fourth quarter of 2026.
Baltica
2
will be located approximately 40 km off the Polish coast,
near Ustka, and is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2027.
The project is being developed in a 50/50 partnership between Ørsted and
PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
Once complete, Baltica 2 is expected to generate 5–6 TWh of electricity
annually, enough to supply around 2.5 million Polish households.
The wind farm will comprise 107 Siemens Gamesa 14-222 turbines, with turbine
installation to be carried out by Cadeler and Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
